Abstract

The Holdo Maneuver was a suicidal battle tactic employed by Vice-Admiral Amilyn Holdo in the movie Star Wars: the Last Jedi, in which she rammed the Raddus into another spaceship to destroy it. In this paper we will find the relativistic kinetic energy imparted onto Holdo’s target to be 1.9×1029 J. Using this number, we will discuss and compare the efficacy of such a maneuver to a superweapon like the planet destroying Death Star and will find that it would take ≈ 1000 simultaneous Holdo Maneuvers to completely destroy a planet of similar size to the Earth.
