A1_5 Laser Confinement of an Ideal Gas

Abstract

Laser trapping is a technique used to confine atoms to a small region of space. In this paper, we look at this technique with regards to ideal gases. A relationship between the radius of the confined gas cloud and the power of laser required to confine it is derived.
