About the Journal

The Leicester Institute for Advanced Studies (LIAS) is an interdisciplinary centre of excellence based at the University of Leicester. Dedicated to creating a collaborative and inspiring environment, it brings together researchers from across all disciplines to deliver ambitious, transformative, and impactful research.

At LIAS Working Paper Series, we aim to:

  • publish interdisciplinary research in a range of formats including preliminary findings, position papers, critical reflection papers, and policy briefs

  • support the publication of provocation papers, aimed at stimulating debate about emerging research areas and complex research questions

  • make interdisciplinary research and debates available within and beyond the academy, through open access publishing.

Peer Review Process

The Academic Editor for the Series is the Director of LIAS.

Each submission will be refereed by the Editor, who will share the submission with up to three internal reviewers (i.e. University of Leicester staff). Where the paper does not closely align with University of Leicester staff expertise, the Editor reserves the right to offer the paper to review externally.

The initial refereeing will be ‘light touch’ so that authors receive initial feedback typically no more than six weeks after submitting their papers.

The Editor reserves the right to immediately reject unsuitable material. The Editor’s decision is final.

The author is encouraged to contact the Institute Office, who will promote the paper.

If you subsequently submit the article to a journal, please check whether they have a policy on ‘pre-printing’ material in working or provocation paper series prior to journal publication. Many journals accept pre-prints, but may have requirements to which you will need to adhere.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

We do not charge article processing charges (APCs) or submission fees.
