Towards a Process-oriented Model of Democratisation or De-Democratisation

Abstract

The dominant ‘theories of democracy’ focus on the ‘institutional shell’ of democratisation and de-democratisation processes. In this paper, I introduce a process sociological model of understanding of such processes which also includes the two other important dimensions of democratisation and de-democratisation, the functional and the habitual dimensions.
