Review and Writing: The Training Journal

The mission of Raw: The Training Journal is to assist in the development of ethical, professional, and development-focused reviewing and editorial skills within the ULSB community. Simulating a real-world editorial structure, RaW offers ULSB academics with an opportunity to gain experience in peer-review, both as authors and as reviewers, and to acquire editorial experience within a collegial, training-oriented environment.

All papers submitted to RaW  undergo peer-review by subject specialists and authors can expect an ethical, development-focused review of their work that will greatly strengthen their manuscript and minimize the possibility of early desk rejections. Together with reviewing papers, RaW focuses on the development of good reviewers and thus places emphasis on review-of-reviews whereby peers are asked to comment on reviews of papers. As such, authors who submit their work to RaW will be asked to provide feedback on the reviews they receive and to evaluate other manuscript’s reviews for their constructiveness. Thus, by submitting to RaW, authors gain more than valuable feedback on their own work but also experience in reviewing and contribute to the development of a better, more professional community.
