A Tale of Two Tails

Emma Tebbs, Edward Comyn-Platt, James Hutchinson

Abstract

This paper outlines the key difference between ion tails and dust tails. It explains why meteor showers are observed when the Earth passes close to the orbit of a comet by examining the distribution of fragments within the dust tail in term of their size.
