Abstract

Further to our article on harnessing the Sun’s energy to progress our civilization to Type II on the Kardashev scale, this article investigates solar sail technology to assess the proposed Dyson bubble solution. A theoretical maximum area density of 0.8gm^-2 is found for each of the energy-collecting sails.
