Finding Richard III: An interview with Dr Jo Appleby

Abstract


In August 2012 a team from the University of Leicester began an ambitious search for the lost grave of King Richard III. The excavation of a car park in the city centre was fruitful and a battlescarred skeleton was uncovered. After months of scientific testing the University of Leicester was able to reveal that the skeleton was indeed that of England’s last Plantagenet monarch. Emma Anne James interviewed Dr Jo Appleby, part of the team that found and excavated the remains, as the identification process was just beginning.
